Abstract EN

This research includes a descriptive and analytical study on the personality of Abu Al-Hajjaj Yusuf bin Ma'zuz Al-Qaisi (who died around year 625 A.H.), and his grammatical opinions that were transmitted from him by a number of scholars, and this study can be divided into two main parts, the first: on the introduction of Ibn Ma'zuz and an exposition of his life and works.

The second: A descriptive and analytical study of all the issues on which I found an opinion of him through the books of his contemporary grammarians or those came after him, and his opinions contained in this research are summarized as follows: The well-known types of nounation (tanween) belong to tamkeen nounation, and that intonation (tarannum) is not nounation, and that the “hamza” in the definite article “Al” (the) is conjunctive (al-wasl), and that the definite article “Al” is only used to refer to a particular thing („ahdiyyah), and that Masbouh (awake) in the poet‟s saying: (wa la karim min al-wildaan masbouh) “and the generous among the children are not awake' is a predicate (khabar), and that the assumption of Al-Faarisi as (Thaabit) in (Awwal qawli annii ahmadu Laah thaabitun) “At the beginning of my speech I praise Allaah constantly” is wrong, and that ('alaa) is a noun not a particle.

Among the most prominent findings of the research: That Ibn Ma'zouz has an opinion on grammar, and had mastery of this art, and that grammatical studies in Andalusia reached the peak of its glory in the sixth and seventh centuries of Hijra, and it was accompanied in this by the literature of linguistic criticism, and Ibn Mazouz's great defense of Sibawayh and his book, and the benefit of scholars from his opinions and how they transmitted them in their books.
