The border region with Morocco in the southern region of Tlemcen, contributed to supporting popular resistance, then the liberation revolution by all available means, such as smuggling weapons and mujahideen across the border, and providing financial support, shelter, food and supplies to national liberation army units, this region suffered the ravages of French colonialism, due to its rural nature, and its location along the Morris line, which continues to take lives to this day because of the mines.

the martyr Lazaar Menaouar is one of the leading figures who managed in a short period of time to organize the ranks of the revolution in the region, and provide it with the necessary support across borders, as he managed to smuggle convoys of mujahideen and weapons through the Asfour and Bani Senous mountains, due to their precise knowledge of the terrain and their tribal affiliation in the area.
