Abstract EN

This study is concerned with reviewing and discussing the political and military role of President Salem Rabie Ali during his presidency of the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (1969-1978), in which he tried to build a socialist approach for Yemen to cross it to an important historical stage that may constitute a milestone in the contemporary history of Yemen.At that time, the president took advantage of the global circumstances represented by the cold war between the capitalist and socialist camps, and relied on the socialist camp to lay solid foundations on which to build and develop state institutions.

In addition, the study attempted to reveal the mechanism of strengthening the centers of political and military power at home, after the conflict that raged between Salem Rabie and some leaders of the Yemeni National Front, especially its Secretary General Abdul-Fattah Ismail.
