The archeology's idea spread in Iraq at the same time during which the holy books and classic blogs referred to ancient Iraq civilizations and peoples and its antiquities.

many Arab and foreign travelers visited the archaeological sites that are scattered in Iraq, and some of them had contributed in transferring their remarkable opinions about these sites to Europe, in order to increase the western desire to visit this country and see its archaeological sites.

many foreign associations, institutions and departments of European museums organized missions that headed to Iraq to search for its archaeological treasures and transfer them to the stores of those museums by foreign personalities who dug and excavated and found the archaeological treasures that were kept for thousands of years into the land of Mesopotamia during the absence of the legal and political authority to deter these actions during that period.

and before the beginning of the twentieth century, the foreign missions began to conduct organized and comprehensive excavations compared to their matched and previous missions.
