Abstract EN

The study aims to monitor the use of the corona pandemic cartoons for visual signs to achieve visual rhetoric, and to interpret the connotations of colors related to the caricatures and their rhetorical significance, and to monitor the persuasive methods used in the caricatures and their investigation of visual rhetoric, and to interpret the ideological and symbolic connotations related to the identity of the cartoonists through their drawings, and it also aims to monitor the connotations of lines, lighting and shadows used in caricature and their reflection on visual rhetoric.

the study used the semantic fields analysis tool.

the study reached several results: the elements of employing visual and symbolic rhetoric in caricatures were diverse in terms of the use of rhetorical forms in drawings; the elements of visual rhetoric that were dealt with in the drawings on news websites in the internal issues of the study sample varied between metaphor, metonymy, simile, pun, sent metaphor, contradiction and rhetorical contrast, contrast, counterpoint and alliteration.

the metonymy style expresses the symbolism of the emerging corona virus, as in the cartoons of the group of seven; we find the hand and tightening of the grip on the virus as a metaphor that suggests control and control over the course of things by these countries, and to refute the public's fears that the matter has become out of control because of the mutated strains.
