The current research aimed at (developing the Wolfgang Rigel test for the mental ability of middle school students according to the theory of latent traits).
to achieve this goal, the researcher followed the scientific steps in developing the test, starting by translating the test paragraphs and instructions from the English language into the Arabic language, taking into account the accuracy and comprehensiveness of all the ideas in the test and presenting them.
an English language expert must check the veracity of the translation.
all items of the test were considered logically valid for measuring what they were designed to measure.
the test, in its initial form, was applied to a sample of (100) male and female students called (the clarity of instructions and paragraphs sample).
and the (600) male and female middle school students were chosen by a simple random method.
the researcher relied on the rush model of logarithmic probability as one of the latent traits models as a model for analyzing the test components and to verify the model's assumptions, the researcher followed the following : one-dimensional, matching the paragraphs to the model, the independence of measurement in a way that achieves the objectivity of the measurement, verifying the functional validity of the test, and the cut-off score was calculated for the test, which reached (38) marks.
