Abstract EN

This is a Linguistic study which explains the concept of vowels , vowels are a major part of Phonetics in general and Arabic Phonology in particular.

It shows how much ancient Arab Linguists paid a ttention to this subject before and after the spread of Linguistic corruption.

Modern Linguists named vowels and consonants as phonemes vowels play a major role in designing the Arabic word , This role is transmitted in different ways within Arabic Morphology as in infinitive verbs, Morphological criterion , diminutive nouns, phonetic change , vowels change , and others .

These topics couldn‘t take its final form or model without short and long vowels.

The study shows also its effect on semantic aspects of words such as words mentioned in the study as examples called (triplets).

The study was based on the descriptive approach.
