Abstract EN
This study aimed to identify the effect of electronic games on developing the social skills of intellectually disabled students.
The sample of the current study consisted of (90) male and female intellectually disabled students in El-Tarbiya El-Fekriya school in west El Mansoura Educational Administration, and El-Tarbiya El-Fekriya school in Dekernes Educational Admistration in Dakahlia Governorate; Their ages ranged between (9-12) years, and their IQ ranged between (50-70), divided randomly into two groups: a group that played electronic games and included (60) intellectually disabled male and female pupils, and a group that did not play electronic games which includes (30) male and female pupils with intellectually disabled.
The study tools were: the scale of using electronic games for the educable intellectually disabled students (by: the researcher), and the social skills scale for educable intellectually disabled students (by: the researcher).
The study results revealed that there is statistically significant relationship between the scores of the sample members who play electronic games on the electronic games scale and their scores on the social skills scale.
There are also statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the sample who play electronic games and the sample members who do not practise on the social skills scale in favour of those who practice.
The results also showed that there are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the sample members who play electronic games on the social skills scale due to the gender variable and the number of hours spent playing electronic games.
Finally, the results showed statistically significant differences due to the variable of the father's and mother's education level between the mean scores of the sample members who play electronic games on the social skills scale.
