Abstract EN

The study was aimed at identifying the extent of the psychological survival of mothers of children with cancer and its relation to the child's sense of optimism.

The study followed the correlational descriptive approach.

The study sample was deliberately selected from the Sanad Charitable Society to support children with cancer and the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh.

The sample included 30 mothers of children with cancer and 30 children with cancer.

The study tools used were the mothers' psychological survival test, prepared by Connor-Davidson, the researcher's standardization, and the optimism level test, prepared by (Nadine Kaslow-Richard Tanen- baum), the researcher's standardization.

The results of the study showed a positive correlation between the psychological survival of the mothers of children with cancer and the child's sense of optimism, where the value of the relationship was (0.532) at significance level of (0.026), which is a statistically significant value at the significance level of 0.05.

This result indicates that higher the level of psychological survival of mothers of children with cancer, the higher the level of optimism in these children.

The study showed the importance of taking into account that the mother is connected to the child's sense of optimism and the impact on the child's psychological condition.

The study also showed how the physiological stress negatively affects the child's optimism and that the psychological self-control of parents forms a sense of the child with cancer and feeling of optimism.
