The aim of the research is to identify the effect of the P.E.C.S strategy on the achievement of intermediate second-grade students in the subject of socialism and development of their social skills.

The researcher used the experimental method, and relied on the experimental design of two equal groups, the first experimental and the other controlling to achieve the goal of the research, the researcher formulated the appropriate hypotheses to achieve the results of his research.

The population of the study consisted of female students of the second intermediate grade in the Centre of Nineveh Governorate for the academic year (2019/2020), the first semester and the research sample included (53) students chosen randomly from Al-Jazaer Intermediate School for Girls in the Nineveh Governorate Center.

They were deliberately chosen.

The sample was divided in a randomized manner on two equal groups, the first experimental included (27) students whose members studied according to the PECS strategy, and the second was a control that included (26) students whose members studied according to the regular method.

The parity process was conducted between the members of the two research groups according to the variables (chronological age, intelligence test, and the general average of female students ’grades in the end of the second semester examination of the year 2018/2019 for all academic subjects, and achievement scores in the social subject for the first intermediate grade in the second semester, and educational level for the parents, and the pre-test for the scale of social skills).

The researcher designed two tools: the first is an achievement test, consisting of (40) items of the multiple choice type, and for each paragraph there are three alternatives, the researcher found the distinction and difficulty coefficient, as well as verifying the validity and reliability, the second is a measure of social skills, consisting of (41) paragraphs, after verification of the validity and reliability for finding the discriminatory power of the paragraphs by using the T-test of two independent samples.

The researcher applied the social skills measure in advance to the members of the two research groups (experimental and control), after completing the teaching of the subjects according to the teaching plans prepared by the researcher for both groups, which lasted for a whole semester, the researcher applied the two tools on the members of the two research groups after collecting, correcting and analyzing data.

Statistically, using a t-test for two independent samples, the results showed the following: 1-There are a statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the two research groups in favour of the experimental group.

2-There are a statistically significant differences between the mean development of the scores of the two research groups in the pre and post tests on the scale of social skills for the experimental group.

In light of the results, the researcher presented a set of recommendations and proposals, including relying on the strategy of P.E.C.S.

in teaching social studies and proposing to conduct more studies in the field of social teaching methods.
