Abstract EN

This study analyses the content of prominent Emirati newspapers to define media policy in the United Arab Emirates and the rules that regulate its practice under the Gulf crisis and the blockade imposed on Qatar before the Al-Ola Declaration on 4 January 2021 that facilitated Gulf reconciliation.

The study covers Al Khaleej, Al-Ittihad and Al Bayan; focuses on the topics they cover and the trends of their news coverage; and analyses their priorities in supporting the allegations against Qatar during the crisis in order to reveal the communicator’s objective of drawing a negative stereotype about Qatar using a study sample.
