Abstract EN

This study, with its historical-structural methodology and through macroeconomic analysis and historical statistics tools, attempts to explain the structural roots of the tripartite deficit in Egypt manifested in the three gaps: trade, financial and monetary.

With their accumulation and mutual interaction, these gaps lead to chronic indebtedness and the increasing crisis of the monetary policy and foreign exchange balance as one of its manifestations.

This ends with the necessity of monetary treatment known as flotation or currency devaluation.

The study concludes that adopting more comprehensive structural policies helps address the tripartite deficit itself by changing the nature of the socio-economic formation and taking it from the state of rentierism and dependency to productivity and independence.
