Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the degree of availability of technical skills and its dimensions (computer, internet, e-mail, and social networking sites) among students at the faculty of economics, university of Benghazi, and to reveal the differences about the degree of availability of such skills based on a number of variables (gender, age, department, duration of using the internet, owning a computer, owning an e-mail, attending training courses in the field of information technology), the descriptive approach, was used and to achieve its objectives a questionnaire tool was developed, and the size of the study population reached (7329) elements, following the simple random sampling method.

the sample size is (369) single, the data was analyzed using statistical software packages for the social sciences (SPSS), and the results of the study indicated that the degree of technical skills availability of students in the faculty of economics was (high), but in varying proportions, and it was found that the skill of communication sites, the social skill is the most available to students, followed by the skill of using the internet, then the skill of using e-mail, and the skill of using the computer came in last place.

the results of the study also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences about the degree of availability of technical skills for all dimensions of the student in the faculty of economics due to gender, while there were statistically significant differences about the degree of availability of technical skills for all dimensions due to age, duration of internet use, and possession of a device.

finally, the study recommended the necessity of educating and encouraging university students to go more towards these technical means because of their importance in obtaining knowledge related to their academic path, and conducting training courses in the field of information technology that help them develop their skills.
