Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify language and speech disorders and their relationship to reading difficulties among students with learning difficulties from the point of view of teachers in Jeddah.

the researcher relied on the descriptive correlative approach.

the research tools also included a questionnaire prepared by the researcher and it included three dimensions and (33) paragraphs related to the three dimensions.

the sample number was (80) teachers, and the sample was chosen randomly from government primary schools in Jeddah.

a number of statistical methods were also used, including arithmetic means, standard deviations, Pearson's coefficient and Cronbach's alpha coefficient.

the result of the first question showed that the degree of language disturbances (receptive and expressive) is high.

the result of the second question showed that the degree of speech disorders is high, as well as the result of the third question showed that the degree of reading difficulties is high, and the result of the fourth question showed that there is a statistically significant correlation at the level (0.05) between language disorders and speech disorders among students with learning difficulties in government primary schools.

in the city of Jeddah from the teachers’ point of view, the result of the fifth question also showed the existence of a statistically significant correlation at the level (0.05) between speech disorders and reading difficulties among students with learning difficulties in government primary schools in Jeddah from the teachers’ point of view.

based on the results and studies, the researcher recommends the following : the importance of having early intervention programs to detect and treat language and speech disorders in the pre-school stage to reduce reading difficulties, to make special programs for language development and treatment of speech disorders for children with reading difficulties.
