English Abstract

This study aims at identifying the role of the continuing education at the Islamic University in developing life skills of community members from the beneficiaries’ perspective.

It also aims at identifying whether or not there are significant differences between the mean scores of the sample members relevant to the role of the continuing education at the Islamic University in developing life skills of community members.

The study also aspires to suggest a set of methods to develop this role.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the descriptive analytical approach, and designed a questionnaire consisting of (42) items distributed over five areas.

The questionnaire was applied to a sample of (383) beneficiaries of the programs of the Deanship of Continuing Education at the Islamic University.

The number of retrieved questionnaires was 321 questionnaires with a retrieval rate of 83%.

The researcher also conducted interviews with a number of experts to suggest ways to activate the role of the continuing education at the Islamic University in developing life skills of community members.

The most important findings of the study : 1.

The estimation of the study sample to the role of the Deanship of Continuing Education at the Islamic University in developing life skills among members of the community had a relative weight of (72.73%) and an arithmetic average of (3.636), i.e., a high degree.

All fields had significant degrees whose relative weights ranged between (62.75- 75.84%) ranked in descending order as follows (time management skills, self-marketing skills, communication skills, creative thinking skills, technological skills).

There are no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the sample members' estimation to the role of continuing education at the Islamic University in developing life skills among community members attributable to the study variables (gender, educational qualification, age).

There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the sample members' estimation to the role of continuing education at the Islamic University in developing life skills among community members attributable to the variable number of courses in favor of three courses and more.

4.

The study reached a number of methods to develop the role of continuing education in developing the life skills of the community members.

The most important recommendations of the study : 1.

Working on developing the continuing education programs and courses according to match the needs of the rapid technological developments and the needs of community members.

2.

Disseminating the culture of acquiring and developing life skills among university students and community members and explaining its importance to them.

3.

Providing financial and information support to strengthen the programs, activities and projects of the Deanship of Continuing Education.
