English Abstract

Objective of the study : This study aims at identifying the most important digital citizenship values that should be possessed by technology course teachers in secondary schools, and revealing the extent to which teachers have these values through a questionnaire tool, then preparing a proposal by the researcher to develop those values for secondary school technology teachers.

Sample and research methodology of the study : The study was applied to a basic sample of (52) male and female information technology teachers in the secondary schools of the Directorate of Education in North Gaza for the academic year (2019-2018).

Subjects were selected from the study population by using the intentional sample method according to the educational region.

The size of the sample, that represents the study population, was determined according to the characteristics of the sample members.

The researcher used the descriptive approach when applying the study, and a questionnaire for digital citizenship values that consist of (71) items distributed on three axes as a study tool.

The most important findings of the study : 1.

There are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the individuals of the study sample in the three areas combined for the extent to which secondary schools’ technology teachers possess digital citizenship values attributable to some variables such as gender (male, female), years of service (ten years or less, ten years or more).

There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the individuals of the study sample in the three areas combined for the extent to which secondary schools’ technology teachers possess digital citizenship values attributable to some variables such as the educational qualification (Bachelor or less, MA and more).

3.

Preparing a proposed concept paper through which the values of digital citizenship among teachers in schools of the Palestinian Ministry of Education can be developed towards employing the requirements of digital citizenship in education.

The most important recommendations of the study : 1.

Preparing the necessary training programs to qualify, train, and increase the skills of teachers in general and technology teachers in the secondary stage in particular; to be fully aware of the concepts of digital citizenship, its values and ways of promoting it for their students.

2.

The Ministry of Education should take into consideration the concepts of digital citizenship when designing the curriculum in general.
