The study aimed to identify the counseling needs of secondary education pupils for a sample consists of 185 male and female of some secondary schools of Chlef, based on the descriptive approach, and the application of the counseling needs questionnaire prepared by Amzian (2007), the data were processed through the statistical program (SPSS) and using statistical methods (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, single-contrast analysis, Scheffe test).

the study reached to some results: that the level of counseling needs of secondary school pupils is high, differences in the level of counseling needs attributed to each of the gender variables to females and the academic grade variable to first grade, while the differences were not a function of the specialization variable, and the study recommended increasing attention to counseling secondary education pupils in order to satisfy their needs and bring them to a high level of mental health through diversification in the use of counseling approaches, whether they are developmental, treatment, or preventive.
