Abstract EN

The current study aims to examine the problem of rejection of a child's mental disability by his parents and test the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in reducing this rejection.

to achieve this objective we used the experimental approach while being based on the interview, the observation, and the scale of parental rejection of the mental handicap of the child adapted from the study of Iman Alkachef 2001.

the study was carried out on 4 cases (three mothers and a father) aged between 30 and 60 years of 5 disabled children (from 4 to 12 years old) at the level of the medico pedagogical center for mentally retarded children-Usto-as well as the 'national association for the school and professional integration of down's syndrome (ANIT) in Oran, on which the therapeutic program based on cognitive-behavioral therapy was applied.

it was concluded that: cognitive behavioral therapy is effective in reducing the rejection of the child's mental handicap by his parents.
