Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the kind of the relationship between social support, the level of psychological loneliness feeling in elderly people and to reveal the differences between the elderly people residing in retirement homes and those residing with their families in social support, and the level of psychological loneliness feeling.

In order to conduct the study, we applied two scales, the first one of ''Spader'' (2001) which is related to social support and the second one of ''Russel'' (1996) which is related to the psychological loneliness carried out on a sample of (60) elderly people: (30) elderly people residing in retirement homes and (30) others living with their families.

The results concluded that there is a relationship between social support and the level of psychological loneliness in elderly people, there are differences between the elderly people residing in retirement homes and those residing with their families in social support, there are also differences between the elderly people residing in retirement homes and those residing with their families in the level of psychological loneliness
