This study aims to shed light on the intense debate regarding the clear overlap and overlap between environmental security and development issues on the one hand, and the repercussions and stakes generated by threats to environmental security on the development path on the other hand, which has repercussions on the development path of countries, including Algeria, which seeks to activate its development path.

This is what puts the Algerian decision-maker in front of the inevitability of balancing between achieving development sustainability and maintaining the stability of the environmental factor, by following a broader approach to security that recognizes the importance of environmental threats to human security and legitimizes their firm integration in the current development policy agenda, which in turn is reflected in the activation of the development path
