Abstract EN

This work on the reality of medicine in North Africa in the Roman period - a statistical descriptive approach to the most famous Physicians and their contributions - as an attempt by us to highlight the position of medicine and physicians as a high-level profession of Africans and their most important contribution to Romanian medicine.

Relying on both analytical and descriptive historical approaches, and on many material and literary sources.

Finally, we concluded that medicine was closely related to religion and magic.

That the prosperity of cultural and intellectual life in the North Africa in the period Roman was not limited to literary life, but particularly in science and medicine.

Given the existence of the country the "African School of Medicine" of Carthage, which flourished in the middle of the 3rd century.

Lists the departments of medicine, the significant number of African physician who were famous in the Roman world.

Their leading role in Latin medical literature especially in preservation and transfer of Greek medical knowledge to Italy by leading mainly the collection, summation, modification, translation and transcription of Greek medical literature into Latin.
