دراسة قياسية للعلاقة بين التنويع الاقتصادي و النمو الاقتصادي في الجزائر للفترة (1990-2020)‎

Abstract EN

This paper aims to test the relationship between economic diversification and economic growth in Algeria during the period 1990-2020, by relying on the export concentration index, which is known as the Herfindahl-Hirshman Index (HHI), and to achieve this goal the Autoregressive distributed lag model methodology (ARDL) was used.

The results of the Granger causality test showed that there is a one-way causal relationship between the domestic credit variable provided by the private sector to the (HHI) index, and another one-way relationship extends between oil prices to the (HHI) index, and there is no causal relationship among the rest of the variables.

The study found that Algeria is still highly dependent on oil and gas revenues, and that diversification has not yielded the desired result, despite the continuous efforts made by Algeria to diversify its economy.
