Abstract EN

In the context of the problem of the relationship between the constant and western modernity, we have tried, in this study to seek some of the answers provided by professor Allal Al-Fassi through his book: “Defending Islamic Sharia”, according to an epistemological and methodological approach that relies on description, analysis, and criticism so as to address the problems of openness to western modernity.

We have also chosen El Fassi, being one of the Moroccan intellectual elite that tried to combine tradition and modernity, with a vision of openness to incoming curricula, inspired by the cultural heritage of the Arab Islamic nation, and at the same time opening up to the gains of western modernity, with distinction and creativity, based on good management of diversity and difference, and openness to the west, with no absolute dependence and total exclusion of the other, in order to build an integrative and organic thought that is based on the common human and universal humanity and keeping up with the pace of development.
