Abstract EN

The study deals, analytically with a new Sabaean Inscription, one of these inscribed in Al-Mehrath calligraphic on a board made of limestone.

It has been discovered recently at a mountainous area called Sablat ʿabis which belongs to Ḥaddat village, Wadi Al-Ḥar, ʿns District (Dhamar Governorate).

The inscription has a religious and votive character, talking about the dedication of a votive offering to the god ʿṯtr, the master of the temple of Dhi Samaan.

The observer of the inscription may notice that the content is related to an event related to agricultural activity, and it is dated to an agricultural season.

This highlights the economic aspect of the inhabitants of this settlement in the BC period.

The inscription indicates that Ḥaddat (Haddah) is the ancient name of the archaeological settlement in which the Temple of Dhi Samaan (the source of the inscription) is located.

It is the same name given to the village adjacent to this ancient settlement.

The importance of the inscription lies in the fact that it has never been published before, what it provides of linguistic content, and what it adds of new words that are mentioned for the first time.

In addition to the religious data it presents, and the historical connotations it confirms which comes from the importance of the place in which it was found.

The research was concerned with studying all the words mentioned in the inscription and their lexical derivations to clarify their linguistic significance, whether known or mentioned for the first time.
