Study turned the spotlight on the concept of social networking sites and their characteristics that distinguish them from other cybercrimes, and on problems associated with how they can be addressed.

study also dealt with criminalization forms, including those related to abuse against persons and society.

moreover, study explored adequacy of relevant provisions, particularly, in countries where legislations to address cybercrime are in place.

however, other forms, like cyberbullying, also continue to surface which should be addressed.

substantive criminal protection alone is inadequate to address such crimes which necessitates considering the procedural aspect for the operationalization of criminal provisions via online criminal proceeding with all its stages.

such stages start from online investigation officer; online public prosecution and end with online trial which requires a specific procedural legislation.

key findings and recommendations of the study are: there are numerous problems and impediments to the application of criminal law to illegal acts, and the same could be overcome.

study recommended the enactment of a specific legislation for social networking sites crimes and for cybercrimes.
