Abstract EN

The research dealt with the impact of the increasing population on the water situation in Syria for the year 2025AD ,And by using, several indicators that can be expected to increase the size of the population and the consequent development of their water needs.

it showed that the size of population reached (20.8) million people in 2010 and it is expected that it will be increased to (27.7) million people in 2025.

and to decrease the annual population growth rate in Syria to (18.1) per thousand until the year 2025 although expected the relative decline recorded by the total fertility rates, and it's reflection on the decline in the annual population growth rate, the annual increase of the size of population will continue to increase as a result of what is known in phenomenon of population momentum which the total fertility rates decline and the annual population increase continue to rise.

according to this population increase, an increase in the general population expected to be followed by (149 n / km2), and their water needs increase to about (27.15 billion) m in 2025, and the water gap is expected to reach (8.468) one billion cubic meters.

consequently, the per capita share of water falls to (677.3) cubic meters in 2025.
