Abstract EN

Big data is a terminology used among many disciplines, its researches has remarkably evolved both in quantity and quality, So the study sought to research the directions of big data research in the field of information science, since the Big data has a number of advanced requirements, furthermore the diversity of the observed challenges, the study devotes its geographical borders in the Arab world, Thus, the study achieves a measurement of current directions and an extrapolation of future directions.

To achieve the above, the study employed a mixed approach that begins with the historical approach to track the emergence of the term, The content analysis methodology for a number of Arab and international databases, namely: Dar Al mandumah, Al-Manhal, Science direct, Taylor & Francis, Emerald, In order to figure out the directions, a bibliometric approach to measure them, lastly the comparative approach and an induction of the future, The results showed that the topic of academic libraries, data management, and information specialist is one of the most important current directions of Arab studies, while foreign studies advanced in the topic of analyzes and knowledge management compared to Arab studies, nevertheless the two topics are expected to be one of the future directions of Arab studies along with a number of other topics, this reflects the need for more research to discover and evaluate or fill associated research gaps, and address the challenges observed in the context of the studies environment.
