Abstract EN

This article is a critical study of a new book entitled "The press and the history", published in 2019.

It is divided in two main parts: The first part presents the book and the new ideas that its author proposes to build a scientific relationship between the historian and the journalist.

The second one discusses the author's ideas and assumptions.

The first section is devoted to highlight the contexts from which the author set out to rethink the relationship between journalism and history and the exchange of services between the two parties.

It also deals with the elements of the renewal that characterized the book, especially the five foundations laid down by the author to determine the common area of work between historians and the journalists in the field of the present time history.

Some ideas raised by the author were discussed in the second section of this research, especially the issue ofthe Arab historian's involvement in the media field.

In this context, the paper sheds light on the difficulties and challenges which can stand against the cooperation between the historian and the journalist due to various factors, principally the difference in the methodology of the professional and scientific formation of the two parties, the limited freedom of the journalist, as well as the change that glo- balization has brought in some concepts, including the concept of truth that journalists and historians understand differently.
