تُعد المدرسة البيهقية، و التي هي محور دراستنا في هذا البحث، من أُمَّهات المدارس في المشرق الإسلامي عامة و في نيسابور و بيهق خاصَّة، و هي أقدم مدرسة إذ كانت تسمى قديما بمدرسة (كوى سيار) و يقصد بها (محلة سيار)، نسبةً لمحمد بن شعيب البيهقي المتوفَّى (324هـ / 935م)

Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to find out the actual founder of this school due to the huge differences about the information regarding those who contributed to build this school.

That is, there is no census on who is the actual founder.

The current study concluded that the Baihaq scholar Abu A1-Hasan Bin Shuaib A1-Kufi (324-935 A.

H) was the first real founder of this school.

This was done by investigating rare information and data concerning Baihaq city derived from the historian Ibn Findiq who was an original citiczen Of Baihaq city.

This study has found out that the name of the city Baihaq was adopted because Of the majority of the Baihaq population were admitted to this school whose Old name was Kawa Siar.

The other conclusion reached by the present study is that most scholars' occupation at that time was paper makers.

so, this school had become a landmark for many scholars and students and a public forum for all types Of science in which teachers and students meet together through holding debates and discussions via seminars sessions.

Such activities had derived scholars for honest and scientific competition.

The architecture Of this school compromised a Masjid and a minaret as well as a hostel for students accommodation.

These facilities had provided the students with two benefits.

Firstly, availability Of accommodation and food and a place for learning and studying as well as praying which made them not to leave the school but to keep staying inside it.

Secondly, conducting all the scientific and religious duties inside the scholastic center, since this school had become the cultural, spiritual, scientific and religious forum for the students .
