Abstract EN

This study seeks to identify the relationship between the level of digital media education skills among middle school students and the level of self-censorship towards the contents they are exposed to through social media, within the framework of systematic integration using the media survey method for the views of a sample of middle school students in port said governorate who their ages ranged between (11-15) years, males and females, as the sample was (350) individuals, who answered the electronic questionnaire via google forms.

the results of the study were as follows : 1- the high rates of middle school students’ use of social media by 100%, where the (Facebook) application came at the forefront of social media used by adolescents in the study sample by (18%).2-the results of the study confirmed the agreement of most of the sample members to consider themselves as acquirers of digital skills, as the weighted average of the media education skills scale for middle school students was 3.9071.

3-there is a direct, statistically significant, correlation between the rate of middle school students' use of social media and the level of their digital media education skills.

4-there is a direct, statistically significant, correlation between the rate of middle school students' use of social media and their level of self-censorship.

5-there are statistically significant differences in the level of self-censorship among middle school students in the study sample according to gender in favour of females.

6-there is a direct, statistically significant, correlation between the level of digital media education skills for middle school students and their level of self-censorship.
