This study deals with the status of international environmental custom on the basis of an attempt to clarify the status of international custom in building the rules of international environmental law, and to what extent international custom is considered a major source of international environmental law, so this problem was addressed through three demands: the customary emergence of international law Environmental and custom as a source of international environmental law and the pillars of international environmental custom and a course in protection.

It has been evident to us through the study that most of the rules of international environmental law of a universal character have originated in the international environment through custom, and even the rules contained in the normative agreements are often an expression of what the custom settled upon before their conclusion.

The study recommended international jurisprudence to work on extracting international norms related to international environmental protection law and codifying them in order to be accessible to international judges.
