Moderation is the most remarkable attribute of Islam; extremism and radicalization contradict Islamic teachings, and countries worldwide along with international and regional organizations have teamed up to eradicate extremism.

The decisive time the UAE and Egypt are witnessing makes their security and stability in addition to preservation of national assets an ultimate objective.

That is why the two countries have adopted a comprehensive strategy for countering religious extremism in which respective roles of relevant institutions, bodies and entities are integrated.

This research throws the spotlight on the counter-policies adopted by the two countries.

Such policies included (dismantling the organizational structure of extremist groups, particularly ‘’Brotherhood terrorist group, IS and Al - Qaeda” and other organizations associated with them.

This is carried out by means of legal and judicial measures; by establishment of counter-terrorism and extremism legal institutions and entities; the promulgation of a host of counter-terrorism and extremism legislation; the adoption of new policies by security, governmental and non-governmental entities “educational, religious, cultural or media” for countering extremism through concerted efforts and by cooperation with relevant international and regional organizations.

Research findings have shown the outcome yielded by efforts made by Egypt’s and the UAE’s governments.

As per findings, a major, exceptional success was achieved in countering terrorism and extremism.

The two countries set an example in this area and received high praise from other countries, and from international and regional organizations.

They also achieved high rankings in security and safety indices: the UAE was ranked third globally and first in the Arab World; and Egypt eighth globally and second in the Arab World, this in addition to highlighting international counter- extremism efforts.
