التحليل الدلالي لألفاظ عشق النساء في "الغريب المصنف" : دراسة في ضوء نظرية التحليل التكويني للمعنى

Abstract EN

This study investigates the lexis of “love for women” in a book entitled “Al Gharīb Al Muṣannaf” written by Abī ʿUbeid who was one of the early lexicographers in the field of Arabic.

His intention was to analyze this lexis based on analytical formative of meaning to highlight the Arab’s concern with meaning and their approach towards words analysis.

Highlighting what has been conveyed by the semantic features of these words would also highlight lexical relations of these words, whether they are close or far in terms of meaning so that these words can be used properly in expression.

This study adopted the descriptive analytical method based on induction and tracing of lexis as well as analyzing them semantically based on the formative analysis theory.

The study arrived at a number of findings: the lexis in expressing the love for women as used was appropriate.

The lexis used in the study had negative meanings that were viewed as a taboo.

There is lack of complete synonymy.

There is only approximation of meaning in most cases.

The approximation in meaning has made some dictionaries to ignore the slight differences in meanings and use them to interpret one another.
