Abstract EN

A text book is a source of learning, and an essential element of the educational process, as the success of the teaching and learning processes are closely linked to the success in preparing and organizing the text book.

Responding to the requirements of the curriculum development process, this study aimed at analyzing the content of the sixth textbook for Teaching Arabic to Speakers of Other Languages at the University of Jordan.

The study is conducted in light of the descriptive and analytical approach to describe the items and skills in the its content to identify its stegnths and weaknesses.

The study has concluded that the textbook for Teaching Arabic to Non-native speakers at the University of Jordan lacks the principles and standards for preparing its content on the level of skills and linguistic items.

The book needs to be rebuilt in light of the standards for preparing educational materials for non-native speakers.

The study recommended to conduct more analytical and evaluation studies for Arabic textbooks at the University of Jordan and Arabic textbooks for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers in the Arab world.

This would benefit the process of development, amendment, and improvement of thier weaknesses.
