Abstract EN

The genres of prose have special importance, thus the research of these genres within the modern theories and approaches would open new horizons on the viewpoints of these texts.

This paper examines the topic of the influence of argumentative ties on textual cohesion by directing the argumentation hierarchy, by applying the approach on an ancient Arabic text namely the Nahj al-Balāgha, specifically the examples of the letters of Imam Ali to King al-Ashtar.

The research takes the argumentative approach as a method using the methods of textual linguistic studies.

Among its most important observations are the results of applying the said methods in the text analysis, and that this approach would be beneficial if combined with other methods and theories.
