The research deals with one aspect of the byzantine state’s policy in facing its internal and external problems.

for political and economic reasons, a number of residents- whether willingly or against their will - migrated from one region to another, and the state’s survival was subject to this policy, why not? the transfer and displacement of some of the population constituted a strong support for the byzantine forces, both land and sea, which helped the state to cope with the crises it was exposed to during the period under study.

it also notes that the Thrace region was one of the regions that many different demographic elements migrated to due to its strategic importance.
