A biological experiment was conducted in green house using pots of 5 Kg capacity of soils characterized by different texture classes collected from Aurafia, Yousifiya and Jaderia locations.
These samples treated with four levels of were 0, 50, 100 and 150 Kg.
h-1.
Soil and plant samples were collected at different stages of plant growth namely; Tillering and Booting, during these periods locations plant uptake of K was determined and available K extracted by 1M NH4OAC, 0.5M CaCl2 and 1M NaOAC methods.
These determinations aimed to assess and select the method which gives better correlation between K uptake in plant and extractable K from soils by these three different methods.
The obtained results indicate the following: Maximum amount of available K (257.9 mg.
Kg-1) was extracted by 1M NaOAC which increase by 22.28 and 40.54% more than that extracted by NH4OAC and CaCl2, respectively.
Amount of extractable available K for wet condition in comparison with was 64.63% higher in that extracted in its dry condition for the same applied technique for extraction.
Data obtained indicated a significant correlation between extractable K by 1M NaOAC for both wet and dry soils and plant content of potassium at tillering and booting stage at wet soils respectively.
