An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of adding of blend acetone n- butanol to diesel fuel in relation engine performance and exhaust emissions.

The experiment was carried out during autumn, 2021 in the workshop of the Agricultural Machinery Department/College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences/University of Baghdad and was conducted using a 4-stroke, 4cylinder, water cooled, (DI) diesel engine Model (j2-2701), The number of factors studied was two factors, the first factor was the type of fuel at three levels, pure diesel fuel (D) and two levels of mixtures These levels were named (AB15D85 and AB30D70); and the second factor was represented by two levels of speed (1600 and 1300) rpm and the used the load (Full load) with three repetitions (3*2*3) so that the number of experimental units was 18.

These two factors (fuel Types and speed) were studied along with their effect on each of the following traits (CO, EGT, PM, vibration).

The statics studied by using the (GenStat Release 12.1) program for statistical analysis and the following results were obtained: -- Fuel type /AB30D70/ recorded a significant reduction in the value of /EGT, PM, Vibration, CO/ by /9.40, 77.10, 15.70, 45.30/% respectively compared to the pure diesel fuel (D).

- The speed /1300rpm/ registered significant reduction in the values of CO, EGT, PM by 19.70, 27.60, 38.80% , respectively, compared to the speed 1600rpm, while the speed 1600rpm outperformed the speed 1300.

by obtaining the lowest value for Vibration by 15.3% .

- The interaction between the type of fuel and the speed had a significant effect.

The sample (AB30D70) recorded a significant reduction in value of CO, EGT at speed 1300 rpm by 55.70 and 6.20% .

The type of fuel and speed produced a significant effect, as the sample AB30D70 outperformed by obtaining the lowest value for PM, Vibration at speed 1600 rpm, by 81.30 and 26.60% respectively compared with diesel fuel at the same speed.
