Abstract EN

To study the impact of using organic manure on growth and yield of two hybrids of eggplant.

A field experiment during 2010 and 2011seasons was carried out in the vegetable field of Horticulture Department, College of Agriculture, Abu-Ghraib.

Randomized Complete Block Design in split plot used, the main plot included two hybrids (Barcelona and Black) while subplot represented six treatments, T0 without fertilizer (control), T1 recommended chemical fertilizer, poultry manure at level 5% and 10% (T2, T3) at soil volume and cow manure at levels 7.5% and 15% (T4, T5) of soil volume.

Least Significant differences (LSD) at 5% probability was adopted to compare the means.

Results showed that Black hybrid was higher in plant hight, leaves number, leaf area, plant yield, fruit number, fruit weight and total yield 26.15% , 53.28% , 44.76% , 64.75% , 12.17% , 46.51% , 62.80% for both seasons respectively as compared with Barcelona poultry manure treatment gave the highest percentage of plant hight (65.72% ), leaves number (285.20% ), leaf area (566.82% ), plant yield (76.20% ), fruit number (53.77% ), fruit weight (15.22% ) and total yield (125.85% ) for two seasons respectively as compared with control.
