Abstract EN

The present paper attempts to decipher the nature of the cultural uniformity of the ‘Ubaidpottery’ which was considered as an evidence for the wide spread of cultural connections between numerous archaeological sites in Arabian Peninsula (53003500- B.C.).It was thought by some workers (e.g.

Oates 1986) to represent a ‘cultural tradition’ radiating from a ‘Core area’ (Mesopotamia).

This phenomenon was viewed by the present researcher as a ‘Horizon style’ of widely spaced cultural traits across Arabia and its peripheries.

The study concluded that the spatial distribution of the similar ‘Ubaid pottery’ decorations over far-flung regions reinforces the notion that Arabia did develop close contacts with Mesopotamia and further afield (Iran , Syria , Anatolia, Afghanistan and Caucasus) during the later part of the prehistoric era.
