Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the extent to which the quality standards are available in the teaching practicum program performed by the student of the biology department, the Faculty of Education, Saba Region University.

The study also aimed to recognize the problems that faced the students during the field practicing of the program in light of the universal quality standards of teaching practicum.

To achieve the aim of the study, the researchers used the descriptive survey method.

The third standard of NCATE 2008 was used along with a questionnaire that included (44) items divided into three domains.

Those domains are the problems related to the faculty and to the administration of the practicum education program, problems related to designing and executing the lessons, and problems related to the collaborating schools.

After verifying its validity and reliability, the questionnaire was administered to a sample of (32) male and female biology students at level VI who represented the population and the sample of the study after the exclusion of the individuals on whom the pilot study was conducted.

The study reached some major findings.

One of the most important finding was that the major problems that face the students during the field application of practicum are the lack of modern instructional technology that are essential for the teaching process in most of the collaborating schools.

Some school administrations also believe that practicum negatively affects the accomplishment of curriculum at schools.

In addition, the lack of diversity of the methods and tools used in the evaluation of the students formed another problem.
