Abstract EN

The Umayyad era was considered one of the most prosperous and brilliant Islamic eras in various fields of life.

However, it witnessed several opposition movements that can be attributed to the political and social changes occurred at that time.

Such changes were like the absence of shura 'council', the inheritance of monarchy and the emergence of tribalism again.

The opposition movements took different forms to express their roles, and Yemenis were among the components of that political and social reality, loyalty and opposition.

This study aims to show the role of the Yemenis towards those movements either those who were in favor or those who were against.

The importance of this research lies in exploring the role of Yemenis towards the movement of Al-Hussein, the people of Medina and Ibn Al-Zubayr, as well as the movement of the Tawabeen, Al-Mukhtar Al-Thaqafi, and Yazid bin Al-Walid.

The importance of the Yemenis' role occurred from their impact on those movements, and the positions that they occupied in the state showed the strength of their influence in those movements.

The researcher has followed the historical approach based on description and analysis.

The study has reached several results, the most important of which are: - The Yemenis appeared in the loyalty and opposition groups in most of the events, but their main support was to the Umayyad state.

- The Yemenis thwarted most of the opposition movements, despite some of them were part of them at the beginning of their foundation.

- When the Yemenis abandoned support for the state, it lost its strength, which led to the disruption of the power and its fall.
