The study aimed to shed light on the development of education in coastal cities, as it focused on the city of “jeddah as a model” for coastal cities.

especially the development of education, as it is the mainstay of progress, development and global openness.

he importance of the study lies in the fact that it revealed the coastal cities and clarified their status and importance in general, and in particular the city of jeddah, which occupies a great psychological position among muslims as an entrance to makkah al-mukarramah, which muslims come from all over the world to perform the rituals of hajj and umrah, and its importance is determined by being the first study within the limits of the researcher’s knowledge, who dealt with the development of education in the city of jeddah in the historical period (13441433- ah) as one of the coastal cities.

the study followed the historical, analytical, descriptive, analytical method in order to reach scientific results that can be used in the scientific and practical fields.

perhaps the most important findings of the study are that education in the kingdom of saudi arabia in general and in the city of jeddah in particular has gone through sequential historical periods and eras with the succession of kings in them, and each king during his reign has clear and prominent achievements and efforts in advancing the wheel of education and its development.

the study recommended the necessity of expanding the fields of education and its institutions, especially higher education institutions, and achieving their quality in order to catch up with technological, technical and knowledge progress in the various fields of science.
