For more than two centuries, the Algerian culture used to be heavily dominated by Zayyanids.

The Zayyanid Emirate, which was famous for its artistic exploits, knew the apogee in literature and poetry when the Zayyanid Sultan and poet Abu HamuMussa II reigned.

The later has a significant role in celebrating the Prophet’s birthday.

Celebrating the Prophet’s birthday at Abu Hamu’s times was characterized by unprecedented features in Central Maghreb.

The Sultan used to sponsor charges aiming at revealing the beauties of this occasion.

Thus, a great deal of compilations in both prophetic biography and poetry were published.

The venerable night of the Prophet’s birthday used to witness, in this regard, people studying Qur’an, reciting Dhikr, prayers, as well as religious seminars and processions.

Besides, poets and scholars used to compete each other so to reveal both their skills and poetic abilities in extolling the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), feed the needy, and read the Prophetic Virtues and habits.
