Abstract EN

The study aimed to measure the effectiveness of a program based on discourse strategies in developing persuasive writing skills among the Arabic language learners speaking other languages.

To achieve the goal of this study, the researcher has prepared a set of tools represented in the following: (i.) list of persuasive writing skills needed for learners of Arabic language speaking other languages.

(ii.) design a program based on discourse strategies in developing persuasive writing skills.

(iii.) design a persuasive writing skills test for learners of Arabic language speaking other languages.

After verifying and validating the tools, the researcher applied the program to the sample of this research which consisted 20 Fourth-level students at the Institute.

The researcher used the quasi-experimental method based on one group.

He also used a number of statistical methods and treatments to reach to results.

The researcher has identified a list of persuasive writing skills for the Fourth-Level students, including five primary skills and 21 sub skills.

The statistical results revealed a statistically significant difference at (0.05) between the mean scores of the sample in pre-apply and post-apply experiments to test the persuasive writing skills in the overall score in favor of the post-apply experiment.

This result indicates that the program based on discourse strategies in developing persuasive writing skills has a positive impact on improving the persuasive writing skills of Arabic language learners speaking other languages.
