There is a need for the Shari'a board because of the pivotal tasks it performs, on top of which is to express fatwas and Shari'a opinions, but this task, although important, remains futile if it is not accompanied by the presence of someone who verifies compliance with these fatwas in the applications of financial institutions, hence the importance of this research, which is interested in tracking the ability of Shari'a bodies-in general-and the Shari'a committee-especially - to follow up their decisions.

the results of the research have shown that sharia bodies are uneven in activating this function, as some sharia bodies are interested in publishing their decisions to the public, communicating, raising awareness, participating in training activities and completing and publishing control reports, while many of them are unable to confirm their decisions in the field.

the legislative texts framing its work still prevent it from exercising the role of field follow-up, verifying the reports of participating financial institutions or following up on the results of its report, and from performing its communicative, awareness-raising and formative roles, while the committee has not published many of its opinions despite the law's permission to do so, and its work in completing the annual report is still ambiguous.
