Abstract EN

This study seeks to clarify the concepts and importance of symbol and imagination of Islamic era (early Islam period and Umayyad period).

In achieving this objective the study, it was divided into a preface, two chapters and a conclusion followed by a list of references.

The first chapter deals with the concept of symbolism among Arab and ancient and modern foreign critics and its importance.

Symbol begins from reality to transcend it but not eliminating reality.

It starts from the tangible material reality to transform to a renewed psychological emotional reality.

As for the second chapter, it deals with the concept of fiction among ancient and modern Arab and foreign critics and its importance.

The poet, using imagination, presents the reader the nonsignificant pictures in fascinating clothes, taking from it its static nature to make it other than what it is in reality; something creating joy in the soul.
