Abstract EN

This study aims to clarify the relationship between parental styles and self-esteem among young social service students in Palestinian universities in the west bank.

the quantitative approach was used for both the descriptive and the analytical part of this research due to its relevance to this type of studies.

the sample of research participants consisted of 515 male and female students from universities that teach the extended curriculum in social service.

these are: Bethlehem university, al-Quds university, and al-Quds open university.

a questionnaire was designed for the purpose of the current research.

the results indicate that there is a positive relationship found between the style of facilitative parenting and self-esteem, whereas an inverse relationship was found between the style of intractability parenting and self-esteem.

this means that self-esteem may be related to the family atmosphere and especially the methods of parenting styles.
