This study aims to shed light on the financial situation of the national pension fund, find the factors that led to its deficit, and show the mechanisms on which Algeria relied on to repair this fiscal deficit.

the study found that the deficit factors varied between financial reasons as a result of low oil revenues, demographic high life expectancy and low fertility rate and increase dependency ratio, and other economic stability of the unemployment rate at a high rate and the expansion of the size of the parallel economy, while the reforms reflected in the regulatory side by raising the participation rate strengthening the criteria for authorizing workers in the social security services, the financial aspect of the establishment of the national pension fund, and legal reforms to abolish the relative retirement without age requirement through the issuance of the law (16-15) in 2017
