The study aims to examine the effectiveness of using social media in improving Arabic calligraphy skills among students of distance education through the use of (WhatsApp) application, to achieve the objectives of the study, the Quasi-experimental Designl method was used where the study was applied to a sample of (24) students from the eighth class of the distance education program at the College of Education at the University of Butana, Sudan, in the academic year 2019/2020.

The study sample was divided into two equal groups (control and experimental), the experimental group consisted of (12) students, who were taught by using (WhatsApp); Where students are included in one communication group, through which they are sent multimedia for improving Arabic calligraphy skills: (videos, audio materials, books, and photos), and through which they receive their script assignments, and the control group consists of (12) students who are taught (via the traditional way), the study period lasted for one semester about (four months), the data were analyzed using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) program.

After performing the pre and post tests for the two groups, the study reached the following results: There were statistically significant differences between the average scores of students in the test of measuring Arabic calligraphy skills: (clarity, coordination, and beauty) in the post test between (the experimental group) and (the control group) for the advantage of the experimental group, Of the most important recommendations: the necessity to employ social media sites into serving the educational process through the development of students learning skills.
